Sheet Metal Apprenticeship
(5 years)

 

The majority of sheet metal workers are employed in the HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) industry, where they fabricate, install, repair and maintain HVAC systems. Many other sheet metal workers are employed in specialty areas such as: kitchen equipment, sign work, metal decking and siding, heavy metal work, blowpipe, ornamental and decorative sheet metal, and architectural work such as copper work, rain protection systems and skylights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Produce a high school or GED/HSED transcript from an accredited institution.
  • Submit ACT scores that are less than five years old. You must have scored at least 15 on the reading section and 16 on the math section. If you don’t have valid ACT scores to submit, you must complete an aptitude test. View sample questions.
  • Complete 9,000 hours of training within five years, which consists of a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

Environmental Service Technician Apprenticeship (5 years)

 

Environmental Service Technicians are involved in the service and maintenance of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems in buildings.
